Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our MOT testing service.

What does 'only pay when you pass' mean?

If your vehicle doesn't pass its MOT first time, there's no charge on the day. You're free to have repairs carried out wherever you like, and once the vehicle returns and passes its retest, that's when payment is taken. Note: For vehicles over 10 years old, payment is required regardless of the result.

Do I need to pay online when booking?

No — no payment is taken online. Your booking simply reserves an MOT time slot. Payment is made on arrival at our testing centre.

What vehicles do you test?

We test Class 4 (cars, vans, motorhomes up to 3,000Kg), Class 5 (minibuses with 13+ seats up to 5,000Kg), and Class 7 (larger goods vehicles 3,000–3,500Kg).

How long does an MOT take?

Most MOTs take around 45–60 minutes, depending on the vehicle class and any issues found.

What if my vehicle fails?

You're free to have repairs done anywhere you choose. When your vehicle is ready, bring it back for a free retest within 10 working days.

Where are you located?

We're based in Ditchling Common, East Sussex. We have ample parking and are easy to find.

Can I wait while my MOT is done?

Yes, we have a waiting area at our testing centre. Most tests are completed within an hour.
